Are you afraid of being without your phone? The panic! The stress! The depression! …etc. There is a word for it, and it is called NOMOPHOBIA.
no·mo·pho·bia | \ ˌnō-mə-ˈfō-bē-ə \
Definition of nomophobia: fear of being without access to a working cell phone.
Nomophobia further explained
The term NOMOPHOBIA comes from the phrase NO MObile PHOne phoBIA and it is used to describe the psychological condition of people’s fear of being detached from a mobile phone.
Nomophobia is complicated
This is a complicated subject because there is a fine line between whether an individual is suffering from an addiction or if they are suffering from an anxiety relating to the separation. There is even the case of having no bars (WiFi connection) or having an uncharged phone; both leading to anxiety and eventual panic attacks.
i) There is a rising trend of nomophobia among students; both high school and college.
ii) It has been proposed by psychiatrists as a specific phobia
iii) It is being linked to social anxiety disorder
It is more important than ever to help these individuals. Depending on the circumstances, a Phone Reminder Device (Prox PRD®) can very much help prevent nomophobia from happening to you.
